The Americans: Watch The Unsettling New Teaser For FX's Spy Drama
FX recently announced the official premiere date for their new series The Americans, and with it, comes an eery new teaser for the intense looking drama, which promotes the late-January premiere date.
The Americans stars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys as two KGB spies posing as a happy suburban married couple in Washington DC in the 80s. Their own kids don't know the truth about their parents, which will likely play a factor in the story. And then there's the word they do as spies, which should add some great suspense.
The new teaser below doesn't show us the stars or any footage from the series, but it does focus on the concept of the series as the camera pans over a house and we're silently asked to question what we're really looking at.
It's a perfect little suburban house that, from the start, appears to have been vandalized with red spray paint or something. And then as the camera passes the house, the familiar image of the hammer & sickle and star featured on the flag of the Soviet Union takes shape. It's all about perspective and how you look at what's right in front of you. Clever! And kind of unsettling, but in a good way.
There's also a vague acknowledgement of the decade, with the dated cars parked on the driveway and street.
The Americans premieres on FX on Wednesday, January 30. Watch the full trailer for the series here.
