Archer Preview: Season 3, Episode 4 - Drift Problem
This season of Archer has been the best yet. That's some high praise but Adam Reed and Season 3 deserve it and anyone watching would have a tough time arguing otherwise. It shouldn't come as a surprise either since the between-season mini-series, "Heart of Archness," was spectacular and suggested the brilliance that lay ahead. Last week's "The Limited" was one of the best episodes of the entire series and not just the result the Trailer Park Boys in guest roles, although that certainly didn't hurt, but more importantly because it was a great story, hilariously told and impeccably structured. Let's hope episode 4, ”Drift Problem" can keep the momentum alive.
It's actually rather surprising that it has taken this long for the spoof to tackle one of the all-time classic secret agent conventions - the spy car. You can't think of James Bond, who is obviously the model for code name Duchess, without thinking of the super up cars that always aid in his daring escapes and adventures. And now with Archer the proud owner of his own super up spy car, hopefully tricked out by Krieger because, well, who knows what kinds of crazy gadgets he would put in the thing (his van has his virtual girlfriend).
Although, I guess it doesn't really matter what the car is packing if Archer doesn't have it anymore so, first things first, recovering the stolen spy car. In a way, I almost feel sorry for the person responsible for robbing our hero of his toy on his birthday because Archer isn't exactly the most grown up person and I can picture what would happen if a four year old lost his new prized birthday possession. And had a license to kill. I can't wait to see what other shenanigans Archer gets into with his new car, both before and after it gets stolen... "but he drinks a lot, so"
Archer Season 3 returns January 19 at 10p.m. ET on FX. It stars H. Jon Benjamin, Aisha Tyler, Jessica Walters, Judy Greer, Chris Parnell and Amber Nash. It was created by Adam Reed
