While we still have at least a year to wait to see what’s going on with the Bluths, there’s an update on the subject of Arrested Development’s return to television. Though it doesn’t offer a lot (any) details on the plot of the series or where things will pick up, it sounds like things are rolling right along.

Arrested Development co-executive producer Dean Lorey posted a brief update on his blog to let fans know that he, Mitch Hurwitz and Jim Vallely are writing the new season of Arrested Development, which is set to premiere on Netflix in 2013...

The original cast is back. There are offices and parking spaces. We’re shooting this year. I wish I could give more specifics but, for the moment, even the schedule is being kept under wraps. But it’s happening and it’s great to be back with my pals from the show. More later as it becomes okay to release further details…

So, no major details, but it’s certainly good news to hear that the original cast is back and they’re set to shoot this year. This is the first update Lorey has made to his site since May of last year. Hopefully he’ll have more to offer on the return of AD as things continue to develop for the series. It’ll be especially interesting to hear if anyone new will be added to the cast, including guest stars.
