Awkward Season 2 Premiere And Episode 2 Preview - What's On The Tape?
For those of you who resolve to stay current on MTV's quirky teen dramedy Awkward., as you may or may not be aware, the first episode of Season 2 aired last night, bringing Jenna and her mostly-teen friends back for the next chapter of their amusing and dramatic lives. If you missed it, we have it posted here in its entirety. And for those who did see it, we have the sneak peek for next week's episode.
Season 2 of Awkward had Ashley Rickards' Jenna celebrating the holidays and pondering the nature of her relationship with Jake. When Season 1 left off, the two were exploring the potential of becoming a thing. This, after Jenna got fed up with Matty's seeming indifference. And Jenna learned (or believes) that her mother wrote the letter that played a part in setting up the non-suicidal suicide "attempt" in the series premiere. Here's the full first episode of Season 2, which starts Jenna's own version of "The Night Before Christmas."
Not much on the letter, but no surprise that we aren't getting confirmation about that situation right away. Still, it's causing some obvious tension between Jenna and her mother. It's bound to come up soon.
It seemed necessary to address Jenna's insecurity over relationships. Given her experience with Matty, it's understandable that she might be wary of getting too far invested when she isn't sure where the other party really stands. But things seem to be in a really good place with her and Jake. A New Year's Eve midnight-kiss is a very important kiss, and theirs was very public.
Jenna wasn't the only one who got a kiss. After her own dramatic issues and insecurities reared up, Sadie confronted Matty in a conversation that had her simultaneously telling him off and confessing her crush on him. Drunk and disappointed, Matty responded by kissing Sadie. Something tells me that was due more to alcohol and a slightly inflated ego than it was genuine interest on Matty's part. And after he passed out, Sadie seemed boosted from the whole ordeal. Will that go anywhere? Or was it really just a way for the two characters to trudge forward? We'll have to wait and see.
Speaking of waiting and seeing, there is some major drama ahead invoking a "tape."
Naughty footage from the Sanctuary? Not good! It sounds like whatever's on it is old-news as Jenna seems to be concerned that she and Matty might be featured. And this is just the kind of drama that will keep this love-triangle fresh.
