New Axe Cop Trailer Showcases An Episode Full Of Guest Stars
"I want you to listen very carefully. There is something even better than friends, killing the guy who killed your friends."
Well said, Axe Cop. Well. Said. But sadly, the revenge the manly officer with a moustache mentions won't happen for more than a month. That's a lot of bated breath. And speaking of the late July premiere, the above "Upfronts Trailer" for the new animated show may or may not be showcasing the first episode of the series but it does feature some spectacular guests joining Nick Offerman's titular character including Giancarlo Esposito as Army Chihuahua, Vincent Kartheiser as Bat Warthog Man, Rob Huebel as Grey Diamond and Tyler, The Creator as Liborg. Not bad.
For those who aren't familiar with Axe Cop, it started as a webcomic from the Nicolle brothers - then five, now eight-year-old Malachai invented the character, comes up with the ideas and answers the famous 'Ask Axe Cop' questions while thirtyish year old Ethan brings them to life - about the titular badass policeman who prefers to use an axe (obviously) to fight crime. Not crime exactly, more like anything cool that springs to mind, like zombies, dinosaurs and all the other stuff that a child telling stories would want to include.
Check out the awesome Wondercon trailer to get a better idea of the overarching story... or lack thereof. But that's kind of the charm. Axe Cop premieres Saturday, July 27 as part of the ADHD block at 11 p.m. ET on FOX. The series, made up of six 11 minute episodes (with hopes of expanding to a full 22 if renewed) stars Offerman, Megan Mullally, Patton Oswalt, Peter Serafinowicz and Ken Marino as Flute-Cop. Yep. Flute-Cop.
