Ben And Kate Pulled From Fox's Schedule
It is not a good week to be a struggling TV comedy. First comes word that ABC has yanked Don't Trust the B---- In Apartment 23 from their line-up, and now there's bad news on the FOX front as the network has given the same treatment to their freshman comedy Ben and Kate.
TVLine shared the bad news, stating that FOX has removed Ben and Kate from its Tuesday night line-up and will air back-to-back episodes of Raising Hope during the 8:00 p.m. hour. Raising Hope will eventually wrap up its third season on a Thursday night in March (3/28), with an hour-long episode following American Idol. As for Tuesdays, Hell's Kitchen will premiere its eleventh season on March 12, taking over the Tuesday 8:00 p.m. hour from that point forward, with The Mindy Project and The New Girl airing after from 9-10.
It sounds like Fox is trying to get things organized and aired on time ahead of the late-winter/early-spring premieres, but as TVLine notes, even with Ben and Kate set to return at some unspecified time, this is looking like cancellation for the comedy, which is disappointing. The series was one of the more promising looking comedies going into the Fall season last year and though it's been struggling in the ratings, it's had some really great moments, including one of my favorites from the series, which aired last night:
BJ was trying to pass Maddie off as her daughter and in the process, working with her on her accent. Maddie managed to pick up the wrong British accent, which leads to BJ demonstrating her knack for dialect and geography...
Save Ben and Kate.
