Blackthorne Strides Into Jungle
The last-ditch campaign to save The Dresden Files has failed, as evidenced by the news that Paul Blackthorne is joining the cast of NBC’s midseason series, Lipstick Jungle. He’ll play the husband of Brooke Shield’s character, replacing Chris Wiehl, who played the part in the pilot.
Based on the best-selling novel by Candace Bushnell, who also penned “Sex and the City,” Lipstick Jungle tells the story of three successful women in the Big Apple. Shields plays Wendy Healy, a movie exec trying to balance work and family. 24’s Kim Raver plays Nico O’Neilly, editor-in-chief of a hot fashion magazine looking to replace her boss as CEO. And Lindsay Price of Beverly Hills, 90210 plays Victory Ford, a free-spirited designer pursuing her dreams and looking for a nice guy along the way.
Blackthorne, who appeared as Stephen Saunders in Day 3 of 24, has a recurring role on the new ABC drama Big Shots, and recently starred on the now-defunct Sci Fi Channel series The Dresden Files. I was one of the 12 people watching that series, so I’m glad to see him showing up elsewhere. I predict he’ll have great chemistry with Shields. You heard it here first.
Lipstick Jungle is set to premiere in January and will air Sundays at 10/9c on NBC. Sexy, funny and irreverent, fans of Sex and the City likely won’t be disappointed with this series, boasting the tagline: “These women aren’t looking for Mr. Big. They ARE Mr. Big.”
