Boardwalk Empire Season 4 Preview Teases A Meeting Of Kings
At just over 20 seconds, it's definitely a tease but at least the "When Kings Meet" promo for the fourth season of Boardwalk Empire offers a bit of actual footage. Most of the time 'first look' is a bit of a misnomer since teasers often just offer some graphics, text and maybe a line or two of voice-over before the full trailers inevitably show too much.
Okay, I'll stop with the Goldilocks, 'too hot, too cold' complaining and just appreciate the fact that we got a taste of the prohibition drama's fall return. And the taste is nothing to scoff at since in the short span it manages to include a glimpse of a lot of our favorite surviving gangsters as well as some intriguing new faces. It's nice to see Nucky back in a high-rise overlooking Atlantic City and Chalky getting his hands dirty on the Boardwalk, not to mention Capone and Van Alden/Mueller mixing it up in Chicago, but the bits with Ron Livingston and, obviously, Jeffrey Wright stuck out the most.
We only get a brief wink from Livingston in the tease but apparently he's playing a rich businessman who, unfortunately for him, crosses paths with Gretchen Mol's Gillian Darmody. I guess she made it out of Season 3 alive. Too bad. Wright's character on the other hand seems more integral to the prohibition storyline with his Dr. Valentin Narcisse being a formidable figure in the Harlem booze scene. A king even...
"Only kings understand each other."
Boardwalk Empire returns for its fourth season on HBO this fall. Created by Terence Winter, the series stars Steve Buscemi, Kelly Macdonald, Michael Shannon, Shea Whigham, Vincent Piazza, and Michael Stuhlbarg.
