Britney Spears Will Appear On Jane The Virgin
Fans of Jane the Virgin should be looking forward to the new season, and now they will have another reason to tune in. Britney Spears is getting ready to guest star as herself on the CW series. She apparently has a score to settle with one of the show’s characters, leading to an interesting feud that will be dealt with early on in Season 2.
Little is said in the press release that announced the guest spot, but a quote from the series creator Jennie Snyder Urman gives us a hint of what Britney will be doing on the show.
Rogelio De La Vega is a telenovela actor and the father of the titular character. The odd and extremely vain De La Vega has made references on the show to viewing Spears as his nemesis, which is a strong word with infinitely entertaining possibilities. Apparently, when Britney appears as herself, we’ll get to hear her side of the story. If there is a deep-seated hatred between the two characters, we just hope that the feud plays out in standard telenovela fashion. I'd take an onscreen fight with lots of grappling, hair pulling, and the excessive breaking of fragile objects. It’s only right.
Spears has previously played herself on Glee, and she’s taken guest spots on other shows including Will & Grace and How I Met Your Mother. She was also a judge on The X-Factor. Spears is apparently a fan of the popular series and showed her excitement when she announced the news via Twitter. “Dream Come True” is fairly high praise.
The "Toxic" singer's guest appearance is set for episode 205, so fans won’t have too long to wait to catch the action once the series returns. While it looks to be a one-shot deal, there’s always the possibility of return engagements to build the feud if the episode goes over well. Jane the Virgin Season 2 premieres on The CW October 12, 2015.
Will Britney Spears made a good addition to Jane the Virgin? Are you excited like Britney, or as furious as Rogelio?
