Bullet In The Face Preview: First Tease For IFC's Violent New Comedy
Friday night saw the premiere of two of IFC's newest ventures into original programming with Scott Aukerman's variety sketch series Comedy Bang! Bang! and Kurt Braunohler's game show spoof Bunk. And briefly joining these two later this summer as part of the network's small but growing stable of original comedies is Alan Spencer's Bullet In The Face.
Of course, that small stable already includes Portlandia and The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret, two shows often described as 'slightly off,' so the new 'unique and edgy,' not to mention controversial, series titled Bullet In The Face should fit right in. I will say, it's a good title. Provocative. Take a look a this teaser for the part comedy, part action thriller from the man behind Sledgehammer!...
Well. No one can accuse the tease of giving too much away, however, what the brief glimpse lacks in plot details it makes up in its suggestion of the show's style. It looks like this is going to be an over the top bit of irreverent, hyper-violent, scene chewing fun. We also get a quick look at some of the key players in IFC’s six-part, half-hour show including guest stars Eddie Izzard and Eric Roberts as the series' antagonists, a couple of over the top rival crime lords.
Starring Max Williams, Neil Napier, Jessica Steen and Kate Kelton, Bullet In The Face is about a former jewel thief who, after a botched heist and ensuing plastic surgery, is forced by police to go undercover and help take down the city's gang leaders. The complete series airs over two night, in 90 minute installments, with Parts 1-3 on August 16 at 10 p.m. ET and Parts 4-6 on the 17 at 10 p.m. ET on IFC.
