CBS Picks Poppy Montgomery To Lead New Cop Pilot
There are some pitches you hear that make you stop and think, “Could this really work as a network show?” Then there are others that immediately sound like a four or five season offering that could peak around the twentieth most popular show during the middle of season two. This news story is about one of those latter pilots. As such, I will now predict it’ll get picked up, run five seasons and peak briefly as the eighteenth most popular show on television.
According to Deadline, CBS has tapped former Without A Trace star Poppy Montgomery as their lead in a still untitled pilot to be directed by original Girl With The Dragon Tattoo helmer Niels Arden Oplev. Montgomery will play an NYPD detective wrestling with a unique ability to remember everything. Obviously, this is a double-edged sword that consistently ruins her personal life, yet brings her great acclaim at work.
Ed Redlich and John Bellucci originally brought the show to CBS; so, it’s no surprise they would wind up casting Poppy Montgomery. Redlich worked with her on Without A Trace, and that didn’t end up so poorly.
I’ll see you back here in four and a half years to report the expected cancellation of the untitled show after it languished in popularity its final two seasons.
