CBS Takes the Apple
Apple’s bid to take over the entertainment universe is a bonanza for tv fans. CBS has just signed a deal to provide some shows to Itunes for downloading. The shows that will be available will be “Survivor”, “CSI”, “CSI: Miami”, “CSI: New York”, “NUMB3RS”, and “NCIS”. Each download will be for the customary $1.99. Under the agreement, all episodes from the 2005-2006 television year will be available for immediate download. Episodes from the 2006-2007 season will be available for download sometime after they air originally.
Honestly, this is a win-win situation for networks. It gives people a chance to catch up on a show they might have missed out on and they get some cash out of it too. In a decade, we’ll be thinking back to the old times when each network only allowed a few shows to be downloaded. Our kids will wonder how we survived. That’s when I’ll tell them about the dark times before Tivo. shudder
