CSI: New York's Final Season Will Hit DVD in June
Not a lot of CBS’ originally scripted dramas get the axe each year. Unfortunately, it was CSI: New York’s turn to get a cancellation notice just a few weeks ago. The only bright side to the network’s cancellation of the long-running series is that fans will be privy to the CSI: New York – The Ninth Season DVD collection months before CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Media Distribution usually release new seasons. Instead of a September release, the latest season will be available on DVD beginning on June 25.
The final season of the popular crime drama was only greenlighted for 17 episodes, which aired between September of 2012 and February of this year. Additionally, the season was notable for a crossover episode called “Seth and Apep," which featured the New York cast and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’s D.B. Russell (Ted Danson). The episode is the immediate follow-up to the CSI episode “In Vino Veritas.” Luckily, one of the extras on the disc is a behind-the-scenes look at the crossover storyline.
Like a lot of CBS’ series, the set won’t be available on Blu-ray, although it will come with several bonus features that go behind the scenes during certain episodes to give fans a feel for how the show is put together. Additionally, while the set is pretty expensive for a DVD set (especially for a shortened season) and is listed at $64.99, if you pre-order the final season of CSI: New York over at Amazon, you can get it for only $44.99.
Season 9 DVD Bonus Features
- “A Day Off With…”
- “NYPD Clue” about the “Clue SI” episode
- “On Thin Ice”
- “Fireworks” behind the scenes
- “In Vino Veritas”
