Casting News: A&E's Andromeda Strain Gets A Cast
A&E is getting everything ready for production on their retelling of Michael Crichton’s Andromeda Strain. The network has announced the major casting for its four-hour miniseries event. ‘Andromeda’s’ cast includes Benjamin Bratt, Daniel Dae Kim, Eric McCormick, Christa Miller, and Andre Braugher. The series is currently in production.
From Executive Producers Ridley and Tony Scott the ‘Andromeda Strain’ mini-series is a reimagining of Crichton’s debut novel. Some fans may remember that it was initially made into a feature film in 1971. That movie wasn’t quite up to the standards of his later adaptations like Jurassic Park. The event is being directed by Mikael Saloman and written by Robert Schenkkan. Bratt takes on the lead role of epidemiologist Jeremy Stone. The rest of the roles have been filled out with McCormack as a reporter, Schroder as a virologist, Miller as a surgeon, Braugher as an Army research officer, and Kim as a microbiologist. Ted Whittal will play the President of the United States.
The story of ‘Andromeda Strain’ plays out like a “holy crap that could frickin’ happen” invasion tale. A US satellite crash lands in Utah and a bacteria unleashes a plague that wipes out an entire town, except for two survivors. These two provide the information necessary to create a vaccine by a team of scientists who work desperately to prevent the Andromeda Strain from spreading.
