Betty Suarez is about to get a new love interest. ABC has announced that Freddy Rodriguez will be joining the cast of ‘Ugly Betty’ next season as a possible romantic interest for the lead character. The ‘Six Feet Under’ alum is most recently recognized for his role in Robert Rodriguez’s Planet Terror.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Rodriguez will play Gio, a blue-collar guy with lofty ambitions who runs a sandwich cart at Mode. Gio will take an interest in Betty. We’re not sure how this will affect Betty’s relationship with Henry, but I’m sure I’ll find out when my wife pauses the episode to show me something funny.
I look forward to anything Rodriguez does; even in bit parts he’s enjoyable. He was nominated for an Emmy in 2002 for his portrayal of Federico Diaz on HBO’s ‘Six Feet Under.’ Rodriguez may be more known for his dramatic roles, but he does have experience in comedy. He’s made recurring appearances on NBC’s ‘Scrubs,’ as well as being one of many brilliant characters in Can’t Hardly Wait.
