Celebrate Mister Rogers With A Sweater
Mister Roger's was absolutely one of my favorite shows when I was a kid back in the late 70s/early 80s. Even though my uncle made fun of me, I still loved him. If you trek over to the Pittsburgh area, you can have the pleasure of a real Mister Roger’s Trolley Ride at Idlewild Park. I haven’t been there in about 15 years, but it was really cool back then.
As you may recall, this icon of children’s public television died a few years ago after a battle with cancer. To commemorate his life, and to help Pittsburgh celebrate their 250th birthday, Family Communications, Inc. of Pittsburgh is encouraging everyone to memorialize Mister Rogers by wearing a sweater on what would have been his 80th birthday.
The big day is March 20th. Check out the video below to see Mister McFeeley (seriously, that was a horrible name for a character in a children’s show) – yes, the real Mister McFeeley (he is still alive) – tell you all about the event. He explains that you don’t have to wear a sweater with a zipper, any sweater will do. Which is good to know, because I didn’t want to be left out just because I don’t have any sweaters with zippers.
