The Chew Preview: Paula Deen Discusses Her Diabetes Diagnosis

Culinary celebrity and star of Food Network’s Paula’s Best Dishes Paula Deen recently went public with her diagnosis of type 2 diabetes. Tomorrow she’s set to discuss it on ABC’s daytime talk show The Chew. For those interested in hearing what she has to say, we have a couple of clips from the episode for you to check out.

According to USA Today, Deen held off on revealing her diagnosis for a few years, but says her reasoning for holding back the information was due to limited knowledge about the disease:

That was not why. My knowledge about the disease was very limited. But now I'm coming with good information, something that can help and bring hope to other people. It may sound cliché, but it's the God-honest truth.

She may elaborate further on that tomorrow afternoon when she speaks with the hosts of The Chew, ABC’s culinary-themed daytime talk show, which is hosted by Mario Batali, Michael Symon,Carla Hall, Clinton Kelly, Daphne Oz. Below are a couple of clips, which feature Deen as she discusses her diabetes, and from the sound of it, answers a question about her partnership with pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk.

The Paula Deen episode of The Chew airs Wednesday, January, 18 at 1:00 p.m., ET/ 12:00 p.m. PT on ABC.

Kelly West
Assistant Managing Editor

Kelly put her life-long love of movies, TV and books to greater use when she joined CinemaBlend as a freelance TV news writer in 2006, and went on to serve as the site’s TV Editor before joining the staff full-time in 2011 and moving over to other roles at the site. At present, she’s an Assistant Managing Editor who spends much of her time brainstorming and editing features, analyzing site data, working with writers and editors on content planning and the workflow, and (of course) continuing to obsess over the best movies and TV shows (those that already exist, and the many on the way). She graduated from SUNY Cortland with BA in Communication Studies and a minor in Cinema Studies. When she isn't working, she's probably thinking about work, or reading (or listening to a book), and making sure her cats are living their absolute best feline lives.
