Chris Klein spent his summer playing Jenna’s obnoxious boyfriend on FX’s Wilfred, but now that fall is approaching, he’s making the trip to network TV. His newest gig will take him to Fox, where he will appear in a Season 3 episode of the network’s half-hour comedy, Raising Hope. The role will land Klein smack dab in the middle of the Chance family's shenanigans (and probably even in the middle of their sagging couch).
The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news, also noting some details about Klein’s upcoming character. In the Season 3 episode, Klein will play Brad, a well-known realtor around town who has become a sort of celebrity to the local populace. In true Virginia and Burt style, the couple will have to reveal a secret to Jimmy they’ve been keeping to themselves for many years. Without getting into too many spoilers, Klein will have “almost” been part of the Chance family. I don’t think there’s any sense even guessing what this could potentially mean.
Klein is only signed on for one episode of the comedy, but he seems to have a pretty substantial part in that episode, and it will be interesting to see the Wilfred actor take a gig on a more conventional sitcom. Klein is joining a pretty diverse list of guest stars in the new season, including Tippi Hedren, Melanie Griffith, and Wilmer Valderrama. There’s no word on which episode Klein will appear in, but I’m hoping Jimmy is over the death of his wife at that point. A person can’t take too much wild news at once.
