Clark Gregg's Britney Spears Performance On Lip Sync Battle Is Everything The Internet Needed
Lip Sync Battle can be a crapshoot when it comes to contestants. Sometimes, we get Channing Tatum twirling in full Frozen costume, but sometimes we get celebrities who only do the bare minimum to get through a song. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Clark Gregg recently took part in an epic battle against Agent Carter’s Hayley Atwell, and…well, it’s probably safe to say that his performance of Britney Spears’ “Toxic” is everything we never knew we needed in our lives. Check it out!
Clark Gregg deserves plenty of kudos based just on how much preparation clearly went into his performance of “Toxic.” He had some serious choreography going on, and none of it looked particularly comfortable in that romper, and that flight attendant hat couldn’t have been simple to secure on a head that isn’t exactly overflowing with hair. It’s always nice to see a competitor taking Lip Sync Battle seriously, and Gregg’s dance moves prove that he deserved a win.
Of course, Hayley Atwell had a killer performance as well. In fact, if she wasn’t so unlucky as to face off against Clark Gregg’s epic “Toxic,” her interpretation of Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” might have given her an immediate victory. Climbing out of an egg wouldn’t be easy in any outfit, and skintight leather combined with gravity-defying high heels might have kept a lesser competitor down. She made a very valiant effort, but the win has to go to Gregg. It was a battle of Marvel TV greats, and both performances make the clip worth watching an extra couple of times.
This Marvel faceoff on Lip Sync Battle is actually the natural extension of Clark Gregg and Hayley Atwell’s Dubsmash war that escalated far more than any of us could have expected. What began as a fun competition between Gregg's S.H.I.E.L.D. squad and Atwell's Carter squad turned into a contest for charity in which donations counted as votes. The Agent Carter crew won the Dubsmash war, so perhaps it was only fair that Clark Gregg got the win on Lip Sync Battle.
Hopefully, the musical feud between the Marvel TV stars is far from over. Clark Gregg will be back for another year as Phil Coulson now that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been renewed for a Season 4, but there is no word yet of whether or not Hayley Atwell will get a much-deserved third season of Agent Carter. And for feuds that aren't so musical, there's this other thing Marvel is doing about a civil war of some kind.
You can see more of Clark Gregg on Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. ET on ABC for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and stay tuned to CinemaBlend for news about a possible Season 3 for Agent Carter.
