Comedian Pete Holmes To Host New TBS Series
Comedian Pete Holmes is getting his own show on TBS, set to follow Conan in the late-night lineup. The as- yet untitled series will hit the air in the fall of 2013, with a four-week run planned, four episodes a week.
Conan O’Brien himself will be one of the executive producers on the show, which will be a variety format taped in front of a live studio audience. The half-hour show will blend Holmes' comedy skills with live guest interviews, sketches, short films and field pieces as well.
Holmes is the host of a podcast currently, You Made it Weird, which has almost 6 million downloads and was named twice as one of the top ten podcasts of the year for 2012, both by The Onion AV Club and Paste magazine. Another facet of his online career can be seen on CollegeHumor, where he appears in a series of Batman skits. Holmes also lends his voice to the Comedy Central animated seies Ugly Americans. He has a successful stand-up comedy career and has appeared on Premium Blend and his own Comedy Central Presents special.
Conan O’Brien expressed his excitement for the program and declared Holmes “enormously likeable”, adding that he is “really looking forward to this show.” Holmes offered a quip in response.
Holmes show, once it is titled, will air in the midnight timeslot (EST/PST) following Conan Monday through Thursday nights on TBS this fall. That timeslot was once held by Lopez Tonight, and it seems TBS is looking for a similar type of series to fill that slot once again. We’ll let you know when a premiere date is announced.
