Comedy Bang! Bang! Preview: A Song From Will Forte And Full Episode Featuring Amy Poehler
Comedy Bang! Bang! is IFC's new variety show hosted by Scott Aukerman and based on his successful podcast of the same name. The half-hour talk show parody, now complete with its own band leader in Reggie Watts, premieres in under a month and will feature, well a 'variety' of celebrity guests and sketches. Before creating Comedy Bang! Bang!, Aukerman developed Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis and was also a writer and performer for the hilarious HBO sketch series Mr. Show.
Reggie Watts is an accomplished comedian/musician in his own right with Comedy Central central recently airing his special Reggie Watts: Live in Central Park. The pair already bring more than enough talent to the fake talk show but, on top of the two of them, each episode will also feature other seasoned sketch comedians (some as 'guests') and IFC recently released this clip featuring SNL veteran Will Forte getting down with CB!B!'s band leader. Take a look.
Okay. So the show won't be for everyone and calling Aukerman and Watts brand of comedy weird might be an understatement but they still managed to make me laugh several times (even if some was from sheer confusion). I mean, why is Forte in a pilot uniform? And what's with the tiny moustache? If you want to check out more before the premiere proper, IFC previously released a ten minute "Sneak Peek" featuring Adam Scott and PF Tompkins (which was also weird but pretty funny) followed by this entire episode with guest, and another SNL alum, Amy Poehler. Enjoy the show. Yes, that is a wig roughly the same color and length as her real hair.
Comedy Bang! Bang! premieres on Friday, June 8 at 10 p.m. ET on IFC.
