Comedy Central Goes Back To Black For New Series
Comedy Central has (finally) given Lewis Black his own show, The Root of All Evil, which will debut in March 2008, according to the network today.
Black, one of the funniest and most abrasive comedians ever to hit the stage, will be the presiding judge (like Judge Judy, but angrier and intentionally funny) as two sides, made up of rotating comedians, argue the big question, “What is more evil?”
Comedy Central says that the topics will cover people (eg. Paris Hilton vs. Dick Cheney) as well as more general arguments like YouTube or Porn. It should be an interesting show since Black pretty much find the evil in just about everything. After all, this is a guy who got pissed off that they call soy milk “milk.”
I have to admit, I’m kind of a mark for Lewis Black. Most of his HBO specials have been killer, and his “Back In Black” on The Daily Show was a highlight for me, especially when Jon Stewart went though a preachy phase on the show. If there is any reservation about how well this show will do, it’s only because Black is on the road 200 days a year, and we’ll have to see how much effort goes into the overall production.
Here’s the big question: When will he declare blogs are evil?
