Cristin Milioti Has Signed On To How I Met Your Mother As A Series Regular
Ever since we caught a glimpse at How I Met Your Mother’s elusive mother, questions and theories have flown about concerning how long the actress playing Ted’s future wife, Cristin Milioti, would be able to appear on CBS’ hit comedy. After How I Met Your Mother’s ninth and final season was confirmed to take place over the course of a single weekend, it began to seem far more likely that we would see quite a bit of the woman and on Friday, CBS noted that Milioti will be around a lot in Season 9.
In fact, the Broadway star is signed on as a series regular for HIMYM’s final season. TV Line first broke the news, also noting that Milioti’s turn as a series regular will be the first time any character on the show outside of the core 5 (Cobie Smoulders, Josh Radnor, Alyson Hannigan, Jason Segel, and Neil Patrick Harris) will be a regular. That really serves to highlight how special Milioti’s addition is.
We’ve known for a couple of days that fans will finally be able to get “much better” acquainted with the mysterious character, who has been a teased and hinted at for years during the series. We’ve also known that Milioti’s character will meet Barney, Robin, Marshall, and Lily before she even gets a shot at her future husband. While it seems like a crazy premise to let the course of one wedding weekend play out over two dozen episodes, if there’s any show I have enough confidence in to expect the writers to be able to pull this off, it’s How I Met Your Mother.
According to CBS’ preliminary schedule, HIMYM will continue to air on Mondays next season at 8 p.m. ET.
