Da Vinci's Demons Preview: History Is A Lie
While Starz' popular gladiator drama will be on its way out come next year when Spartacus' final season (Spartacus: War of the Damned) premieres on the pay-cable network, there are other projects in the works, including the upcoming original series Da Vinci's Demons, which is set to arrive next spring.
Produced by BBC World Wide Prods. and written/executive produced by David Goyer (The Dark Knight Rises), historical fantasy Da Vinci's Demons tells the story of Leonardo Da Vinci in his earlier years. It's hard to really know what to expect from the series, but the premise is certainly full of potential, and the teaser Starz recently released has a mysterious sort of tone to it…
"History is a lie that has been honed like a weapon by people who have suppressed the truth. Centuries from now, your own history will also be suppressed."
It's mysterious, and it doesn't give us a lot to go on. What I do love is that Starz seems to continue to branch out, and take chances. It found success in Steven DeKnight's "historically adjacent" telling of the slave and rebellion days of Spartacus. Perhaps it will find similar success with Da Vinci's story, however it's told in Da Vinci's Demons.
"Free the future - Spring 2013."
