Debra Messing Juggles Crime Solving And Parenting In The Mysteries Of Laura Trailer
Debra Messing's no stranger to NBC or to dramas. Coming up at the Peacock, the Will & Grace and Smash star will play the title character in The Mysteries of Laura. NBC released a trailer for the series, which reveals kind of a mixed bag of crime-solving, mothering and other dramatic or humorous bits, with Debra Messing at the center of it all.
The Mysteries of Laura comes from Jeff Rake (Boston Legal). McG directed the pilot, and Greg Berlanti is on board as one of the executive producers. In addition to Debra Messing, the series stars Josh Lucas as Laura's almost-ex-husband. Also among the cast are Laz Alonso and janina Gavankar. Here's the series description:
It really looks like humor is going to be a big part of this series, as Messing's Laura juggles work with parenting...
"Sorry, Mommy!"
A mystery series that focuses on crime-solving but doesn't take itself completely seriously -- or at the very least, has a bit of fun with its lead character's complicated personal and professional life -- could be just what NBC needs to liven (or lighten) up what looks like a very crime-heavy Wednesday night this fall. And Messing's perfect for a role like that, given her experience with drama and comedy.
NBC has The Mysteries of Laura lined up on Wednesday as of this fall, ahead of Law & Order: SVU and Chicago P.D.. Check out the full 2014-2015 primetime lineup for NBC here.
