Demian Bichir, Annabeth Gish And Ted Levine Added To The Bridge Pilot
FX recently got the ball rolling with its upcoming drama pilot, The Bridge, which will follow two police detectives as they hunt down a serial killer who wreaks havoc in both the United States and in Mexico. Now, Demian Bichir, Annabeth Gish, and Ted Levine have been added to the pilot’s cast.
Last month, FX hired Diane Kruger for the pilot, to play an American cop working alongside a Mexican detective, who had yet to be cast. Now, Deadline is confirming Demian Bichir has nabbed the role. The Weeds actor will play a truly good cop in a Mexican force that is more into personal gains than solving crimes (hey, this stuff happens when a force is overwhelmed by drug cartels).
Levine and Gish will also play in the program, albeit from the opposite side of the border. In the pilot, Levine will play a police officer, working on the U.S. side of the border in El Paso, but it is unclear how he will get involved in the serial killer manhunt. Probably the most interesting of the three roles has actually been handed to Gish. She’ll play an American ranch wife whose husband dies in Mexico—leaving a slew of secrets behind. Something tells me Gish’s character, Charlotte, will be more important to the plot than may meet the eye.
With the two main cops ready to go, The Bridge seems to be shaping up nicely. We’ll keep you posted if FX extends the pilot a series order.
