Denny To Return To Seattle Grace

Remember when Grey’s Anatomy was good? I mean really good. Oh sure, the series still has its moments. Like when Cristina freaked out after her almost-wedding and Meredith had to literally cut her out of her dress to let the woman breath. While I still tune in every week when new episodes are airing, I think the series peaked at the end of the second season and since then, the show hasn’t been the same.

Possible Grey’s spoilers ahead – read at your own risk!

I could go on a whole tangent about my Grey’s gripe-list (the Izzie-George hook-up, Meredith’s brief time in limbo, Ava, etc) but that would take too long and I want to talk about good news because hey, it’s Friday! So let’s get down to it then. E! Online’s Kristin Dos Santos is reporting that Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who played Denny, is returning to the show in the upcoming season! As you might recall, Denny died at the end of the second season, leaving poor Izzie dressed up and engaged with no place to go.

Dos Santos said that ABC wouldn’t comment further but her sources say that what Us Weekly reported about Katherine Heigl’s character, Izzie, having a brain tumor in the upcoming season was true. She goes on to say that Grey’s creator Shonda Rhimes is likely to dump that idea (or at the very least, change it) since it’s been spoiled for viewers. But the return of Denny could mean that this storyline is still happening. Honestly, I hope they don’t do another limbo-thing with any of the characters, including Izzie. Don’t get me wrong, I loved seeing Denny when Meredith spent an episode almost-dead but I’m not so down with the supernatural stuff when it comes to Grey’s. Though a brain-tumor-Denny that only Izzie can see and hear, lurking around her and affecting her day-to-day routine might not be that bad. He’d be like Head-Six in Battlestar Galactica except less mysterious though, equally hot.

Morgan’s return to the show will hopefully be a good thing. I’ve always viewed Denny as one of those really great storylines in this series that unfortunately, had to end. His return (in whatever capacity it is) could bring back some of that great season-2-ish Grey’s we all fell in love with. What do you think? Are you loving the idea of Denny returning? Do you hate the brain-tumor story? Am I crazy for saying the show isn’t as good as it used to be?
