Dexter Season 7 Preview: Maybe Everything Is Exactly As It Should Be

Is it too soon to start anticipating the return of Dexter? Well, considering Season 7's premiere is still months away, it may be a bit too early to fire up the count-down, but it definitely doesn't hurt to be reminded that, come fall, Dexter will be back! Showtime released a bloody new teaser for the series, which you can check out ahead.

Spoilers if you aren't caught up on Dexter through Season 6!

When things left off at the end of Season 6, Deb witnessed her brother amidst one of his ceremonial kills. And this, after accepting the idea that she has feelings for him that extend beyond what one sibling should feel for one another. How will she deal with all of this? The teaser doesn't address that directly. In fact, it goes out of its way to be especially vague, and we don't actually get to see anyone (including Dexter), but we do get to hear our anti-hero's voice…

"Maybe everything is exactly as it should be…"

It's hard to know what to make of that line, especially when considering the idea of Dexter and Deb together. I'm still not exactly on board with that concept. But everything being "as it should be" could refer to just about anything. It does make me wonder what inner struggle Dexter will be dealing with this season.

And the line of blood seems like an intentional reminder of the slice Dexter's known to give to his victim's face when he takes a sample of their blood.

Dexter Season 7 premieres September 30 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on Showtime.

At present, she’s an Assistant Managing Editor who spends much of her time brainstorming and editing features, analyzing site data, working with writers and editors on content planning and the workflow, and (of course) continuing to obsess over the best movies and TV shows (those that already exist, and the many on the way).
