Did HBO Just Accidentally Reveal Jon Snow's Fate?

Game of Thrones is a series for which fans love to keep the conversations going in between seasons, and the Season 5 finale gave audiences one of the show’s biggest talking points yet in the form of Jon Snow’s stab-wound-covered body left for possible death. Everyone has theories about where the character will be whenever Season 6 kicks off, but HBO may have just given audiences a huge clue, and it came in a truly unexpected way: a website sale.

While we’re busy thinking about building massive Lego Drogons to scare our neighbors, HBO sent out emails about a toy and merchandise sale they’re having on their website under the name “In Memorium: Fallen Fan Favorites,” which basically just lumps together a bunch of toys, clothes and trinkets dedicated to Game of Thrones characters that have bitten the dust (or something more violent) over the years. And what character is missing from that sizeable collection? Jon mother-wondering-about Snow, that’s who. So if Jon’s merch isn’t being sold in this sale, that must mean he’s still alive, right?

After all, just about every other late major character is on there. We’ve got a Khal Drogo action figure, Pop! Figures of Tywin Lannister and Oberyn Martell (eyes intact), Ned Stark’s peascod, Rob Stark’s sword, and also some King Joffrey junk. This would have been a prime place to unload a slew of Jon Snow tie-ins, but there’s no sign of him.

No one is really going to seriously believe he’s dead unless there’s a leaked sequence of Jon Snow getting buried while every other character in the show is having lengthy conversations about what they’re going to do now that he’s dead. And even, then, people would probably still just assume that the scenes were filmed specifically to fool people, because that’s just how connected people are to their TV characters.

The biggest clue that Jon Snow might be alive came recently, as Kit Harington was seen in Belfast with other people in the cast, retaining the long hair and beard that make up part of the character’s signature look. Everyone from President Obama to other cast members has been talking about whether he’s alive or dead, and it’s almost definite that HBO and the producers are going to try and keep this a secret until the season premiere next year. Because why wouldn’t they? They probably realized that this sale would get people talking, too.

As a final note, it’s worth pointing out that this sale includes a few items for The Hound, last seen after his possibly fatal battle with Brienne in Season 4. He’s another character that some fans have been hoping to see again in some form in the show, since he wasn’t ever actually seen on screen as dead. If only all of our news came from toy sales.

Game of Thrones Season 6 is coming in early 2016, along with winter, possibly. Do you guys think this sale proves Jon Snow is still alive?
