Disney Channel's Camp Will Rock Again

There’s good news for fans of the Jonas Brothers and Disney Channel’s TV movie Camp Rock as it looks like Disney’s planning on moving forward with a sequel to the movie. What’s more, all of the principle cast (including all three Jonas brothers) should be back for Camp Rock 2 (or whatever they’re going to call it). That’s the good news. The not-so-good news is, the movie isn’t expected to go into production until summer of 2009. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this is pending the script development and the busy schedules of the cast.

So when can tweens expect the sequel to actually air on The Disney Channel? More than a year had passed between the airdate of the original High School Musical movie and it’s sequel. If anything, the popularity of that series had grown during that time, so it seems unlikely that Disney stands to lose much of the audience between now and whenever Camp Rock 2 premieres. The only thing the network really has to be concerned about is the fact that some of the 8.9 million viewers who tuned in for the Camp Rock premiere will have likely outgrown the Disney Channel (and the Jonas Brothers) by the time the next movie comes out but by that point, a fresh set of tweens will have taken their place.

Below are some video clips from Camp Rock:
