Is Duff Heading To Beverly Hills?
Lizzie McGuire may be coming back to television. Former Disney star Hilary Duff may be joining the cast of the new 90210 remake on the CW. According to E! Online, producers for the teen soap have reached out to Duff about taking a starring role. Before you get all excited though, keep in mind that they have only offered this part to her. She has not accepted, and neither she nor the CW has issued a comment on the potential casting news.
If she were to take the role, however, Duff would basically be playing the equivalent of the Brenda Walsh character inhabited by Shannon Doherty oh so many moons ago. This time around, the character is named Annie Mills. Like Walsh, she’s active in Beverly Hills High’s theater department, but unlike Brenda, her music of choice is Emo.
Personally, I like the idea of Duff joining 90210—I just don’t think there’s a chance of it happening. Since leaving Lizzie McGuire, Duff has been focusing on her music and film careers. She also seems to be spending an inordinate amount of time dropping live scorpions into her pants, so I’m not sure she can really commit to a weekly series right now. What do you think? Would Hilary Duff be a major coup, or should 90210 stay away from the former Disney stars?
