Eddie Murphy: One Night Only Comedy Special Adds Adam Sandler, Tyler Perry And Jamie Foxx
Spike TV's planned tribute to comedian and actor Eddie Murphy has added a few more big names to its line-up. Jamie Foxx, Adam Sandler, Tyler Perry and Keenan Ivory Wayans have been added to the list of talent set to make an appearance at the taping of Eddie Murphy: One Night Only, which is scheduled to take place early next month.
It's been nearly thirty years since Eddie Murphy's stand-up special Delirious released, and it's still funny and memorable ("Ice cream!!!"). From 48 Hrs. to Saturday Night Live, Delirious and Raw, to Beverly Hills Cop, Coming to America and Trading Places, to his more recent, usually more family-friendly work (Shrek, Daddy Day Care, Tower Heist) Eddie Murphy's been making us laugh for decades. Spike TV's looking to celebrate that with Eddie Murphy: One Night Only, a comedy special that's set to tape at the Saban Theatre in Los Angeles on Saturday, November 3. Spike has the special set to air Wednesday, November 14.
As mentioned, Adam Sandler, Jamie Foxx, Tyler Perry and Keenan Ivory Wayans have joined the line-up of comedic talent set to appear or perform. Also set to make an appearance are Chris Rock, Nick Nolte, Samuel L. Jackson, Tracy Morgan, Arsenio Hall, Brett Ratner, Charlie Murphy, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and Martin Lawrence. The special will include short films, musical performances and some sketch comedy, all of which will lead up to an appearance by Murphy himself. The Roots will be serving as the house band for the evening.
With the event not set to tape until next weekend, it's too soon for video, but hopefully Spike will release a trailer or a clip or two between the taping and the broadcast on November 14. In the meantime, it sounds like they have a pretty great list of comedic talent set to honor Murphy. Eddie Murphy: One Night Only sounds like something to look forward to for those of us who've enjoyed his comedy over the years.
