FEARnet Renews Holliston For A Second Season
That was quick. Only two weeks into its freshman season, FEARnet’s first original series for television has been picked up for a second season. Holliston, the comedy made just for fans of horror films and over-the-top rock bands like Twisted Sister and GWAR (the show stars the singers from both), seems to have found its niche.
As a first foray into original, scripted comedy, Holliston certainly provides something very different from what’s on other networks. FEARnet is known for, well, fear, so a comedy isn’t the first thing you would expect from them, but the series seems to find a balance between funny and fitting into the network’s lineup. Hollistonis about two guys working at a cable access channel; they host their own late-night show dedicated to the hard-core horror fan. The series premiered April 3rd and Deadline brings word of its early renewal. President and GM of FEARnet Peter Block feels the comedy “resonates with both genre junkies and more mainstream comedy fans alike.”
In addition to Twisted Sister's Dee Snider and GWAR's Oderus Urungus (I’m fairly sure that’s not his real name), the cast includes horror filmmakers Adam Green (writer/director of Hatchet and Frozen, also the show's creator) and Joe Lynch (director of the upcoming LARPer horror flick Knights of Badassdom). This is one “twisted” comedy series that definitely stands out from the crowd. Below you can check out a preview of the third episode, which aired last night. You can check out Holliston Tuesday nights at 10:30/9:30c on FEARnet.
