Family Guy's Empire Spoof Gets Release Date
Family Guy is often criticized for their pop culture spoof cutaways that have nothing to do with the plot. I've always felt it was one of the strengths of the show, partially because it was something unique. That and the fact that some of these cutaways are absolutely hilarious. So when Family Guy planned a spoof of Star Wars, I thought this could work. Here's a pop culture staple rip for the ribbing.
As it turned out, Family Guy: Blue Harvest was even better than I expected. So I was absolutely thrilled to hear that Seth MacFarlane decided to bring the same treatment to The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The first of those was originally talked about as a possible season opener this year, but obviously that didn't happen.
Nevertheless, FOX has now announced a release for Family Guy: Something, Something, Something Dark Side. Only rather than premiere on television, they're taking it to DVD and Blu-Ray first. Just in time for Christmas, on December 22, you can grab your own piece of the force -- or farce, as the case may be.
To whet your appetite, and mine, FOX has released a couple of trailers for the special, which is expected to air on FOX as part of the current season in 2010. And that Jedi spoof, currently titled We Have a Bad Feeling About This is still in the works.
