Farscape Creator Given Five More Chances By Sci Fi
The producer of Sci Fi Channel’s ‘Farscape,’ is returning to the “What if?” network. David Kemper, who helped create the fan favorite show about a present day astronaut that accidentally travels through a wormhole to a distant part of the galaxy, has signed a deal with Sci Fi to produce five new TV movies. He also has a new series idea that is garnering interest from other cable channels.
The first two films of the deal have been announced as horror movies Heat Stroke and Tyrannosaurus Azteca. They will both air sometime in 2007. No details have been officially revealed about the content of each film, but maybe Captain Bridger can have one of his talking dolphins make a guest appearance.
Rigel Entertainment is co-producing the films, as well as the new series. David Macalone, president of Rigel Entertainment, wouldn’t reveal which cable network is interested but did say there are three currently in talks with the production company. The new series is based on a comic book and according to TV.com is ”a postapocalyptic action series in the vein of ‘Xena, The Warrior Princess.”
