Fear The Walking Dead Is Already Renewed For Season 2
We are so close to new episodes of Fear The Walking Dead that I can almost smell the putrified flesh in the Los Angeles landscape. The new series is expected to hit the schedule in August, and this week at the Television Critics Association press tour, the Fear The Walking Dead team confirmed the series will return to the schedule for Season 2 in 2016.
While we’ve been all hyped and focused on the upcoming first season of The Walking Dead spinoff, the news had kind-of been buried that AMC actually had a lot of faith in Fear The Walking Dead when the network picked up the drama to series. The cabler actually signed on for two seasons of the hit drama when they initially greenlighted the spinoff. Six episodes have been ordered for Season 1, but mum is still the word on how many episodes Season 2 will get. We’re guessing it will be dependent on whether or not Fear the Walking Dead manages to pull in behemoth numbers like its predecessor. If the drama is not as successful as The Walking Dead, we could see another short episode order for Season 2. If it crushes, I’d expect that number to be larger.
While two zombie shows might seem like a lot for a network (three, if you’re counting Talking Dead), there should be plenty of new ground for Fear The Walking Dead to explore. The series is set in Los Angeles during the period of the rise of the zombies and will follow a family. The series is set during the period when Rick Grimes was in a coma in a hospital in Georgia, so we’ll get to see the zombie manifestation unfold in ways we haven’t before. If you want a hint of what that could look like, you can check out the full trailer, below.
Plus, according to Deadline, showrunner Dave Erickson already has a plan for where they would like to go during Season 2. Here’s what he had to say.
While it will still be a while before Season 2 hits the schedule, fans can look forward to episodes of Fear the Walking Dead, soon. The new series will hit the schedule on Sunday, August 23 at 9 p.m. ET. Here’s what we know about the upcoming drama. In addition, The Walking Dead also returns on October 11, also at 9 p.m. ET.
