Will Ferrell To Host Saturday Night Live Next Month

Third time's a charm! Will Ferrell's earlier claim to fame was a regular job on Saturday Night Live, and he's hosted the NBC sketch comedy series two times since going on to make a name for himself in film. NBC announced today that Ferrell will return to studio 8H to host the show for the third time. Is it too soon to put in a request for a Jeopardy sketch and/or a cameo by Cheri Oteri (preferably in a Spartans cheerleading uniform)?

Recently, Ferrell starred in Casa de Mi Padre and has The Campaign with Zach Galifianakis coming up. We also have Anchorman 2 to look forward to eventually. Per NBC's announcement, Ferrell will host SNL on May 12. And third time will also be a charm for Usher, who will serve as the episode's musical guest, in anticipation of his upcoming album "Looking for Myself."

Just for old-times sake…

Before we get to see Ferrell back on SNL, we have Eli Manning to look forward to. The NY Giants quarterback is set to make his hosting debut on May 5. Rihanna will be the musical guest for the episode.

With Manning and Ferrell on board for two of the three final episodes of Season 37, that just leaves one episode left to find a host. Who will take on the season finale on May 19? We may have to wait until next month to find out.

Assistant Managing Editor

Kelly put her life-long love of movies, TV and books to greater use when she joined CinemaBlend as a freelance TV news writer in 2006, and went on to serve as the site’s TV Editor before joining the staff full-time in 2011 and moving over to other roles at the site. At present, she’s an Assistant Managing Editor who spends much of her time brainstorming and editing features, analyzing site data, working with writers and editors on content planning and the workflow, and (of course) continuing to obsess over the best movies and TV shows (those that already exist, and the many on the way). She graduated from SUNY Cortland with BA in Communication Studies and a minor in Cinema Studies. When she isn't working, she's probably thinking about work, or reading (or listening to a book), and making sure her cats are living their absolute best feline lives.
