Fiennes To Star In Starz's Camelot

Starz announced the cast for their upcoming new series Camelot. Set to play the role of Merlin is Joseph Fiennes, while Eva Green has been cast to play the sorceress Morgana.

Starz plans to get Camelot on the air sometime in early 2011. The network states that the series will “take a fresh approach to tell the Arthur story.” Fiennes made a name for himself when he starred in the Oscar winning Shakespeare in Love, but was most recently seen as the lead character in ABC’s Flash Forward. Eva Green played the role of Bond girl Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale, which earned her the BAFTA Rising Star award back in 2007.

Jamie Campbell Bower and Tamsin Egerton will play the roles of Arthur and Guinevere. Bower was seen in the second Twilight film (New Moon), where he played Caius Voluri. Harry Potter fans will get to see him in the final two movies of the series (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Parts 1 and 2) as he’s set to play Gellert Grindewald. Egerton’s credits include Keeping Mum, St. Trinian’s and the miniseries The Mists of Avalon.

”With Joseph Fiennes, Eva Green, Jamie Campbell Bower and Tamsin Egerton in the cast, we’ve got actors who can bring real passion and intensity to their roles,” Starz President and CEO Chris Albrecht said.

Starz is quickly raising the bar in terms of casting for their original programming. For a look at the excellent cast of their upcoming miniseries based on The Pillars of the Earth, click here!
