First Look At Lady Sif's Return In Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. made its grand return earlier this week with “Aftershocks,” which followed up on Skye and Raina’s Inhuman transformations. Next week, things are only going to get crazier when actress Jaimie Alexander reprises her role as Lady Sif. Check out the first preview below of the Asagrdian warrior’s return to the series in “Who You Really Are.”
According to an earlier report, Sif will return to Earth on an undercover mission to take down a currently-unknown superpowered being in Portugal. The battle will draw enough public attention that the S.H.I.E.L.D. team will get involved, and in the process, Sif will lose her short-term memory, forgetting who she is and what her mission is. While the preview shows that things will get intense, this episode is also expected to be “fun and humor-filled,” so fans shouldn’t worry about the episode being too dark, although it’s sure to be action-packed.
Sif’s return comes at a time when the S.H.I.E.L.D. team is dealing with forces they don’t understand, namely the Inhumans. So far, most of the team only knows about Raina’s transformation, but as the trailer implies, they’ll learn about Skye’s destructive earthquake powers.
Maybe once Sif gets her memory back, she’ll be able to clue in the team on what’s going on with Skye. Asgardians are thousands of years old, and while few Asgardians have stopped by Earth in the last millennium, it’s hard to believe they’re not aware of the Inhuman society that resulted from Kree (the alien species first seen in Guardians of the Galaxy) experimentation centuries ago.
Lady Sif is one of the few non-S.H.I.E.L.D.-affiliated characters to appear in both the movies and television, with her major appearances being Thor and Thor: The Dark World. The last time she showed up on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., she helped the agents track down Lorelei, an Asgardian fugitive who attempted to use her seduction powers to enslave humanity. Because Thor: Ragnarok won’t be hitting theaters until late 2017, including Sif on the series is one of the few ways fans get their fill of Asgardians aside from seeing Thor in Avengers: Age of Ultron later this year.
You can catch Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Tuesdays at 9/8c on ABC.
