First Teaser For TNT's Dallas Shows The Old Blood And The New
TNT just released the first look at the return/reboot of Dallas so it's time to see what your favorite Texans have been up to these last 20 years... or if you're like me and skew a little younger than the original audience you can find out a little about the characters and what the hell went on in Dallas in the '80s. I mean, why did they have to shoot this JR guy anyway? I think it's something do to with horses and oil.
This new show marks the return of Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy (who will always be Frank Lambert on Step by Step to me), and Linda Gray plus the new and presumably central, cast members Josh Henderson, Jesse Metcalfe, Jordana Brewster, Julie Gonzalo and Brenda Strong. Oddly enough Strong was in one episode of the original series and perhaps, since she's credited as the mysterious 'Cliff's One Night Stand,.' Maybe she, Ann, switched from one night with Cliff to a life-time with Bobby? On the website for Dallas you will find ongoing updates, photo albums and more on the characters/show's backstory.
Executive producer Cynthia Cidre wrote the pilot, with fellow EP Michael M. Robin attached to direct. Cidre is best known for her work on Cane (or as Mambo Kings screenwriter), while Robin's credits include another other hit TNT show in The Closer. The network has been thinking about bringing Dallas back for some time before finally ordering this 10-episode first season. According to Michael White at TNT, "it wasn't until we read Cynthia Cidre's outstanding pilot script that we knew we had the foundation for a great new series."
I can't think of TNT without thinking of Aziz Ansari's stand-up. I wonder is Harris will be tuning in to watch the revamped Dallas. After all TNT knows drama!
Look for Dallas on TNT, summer 2012.
