The Flash Just Cast This Female Supervillain
Earlier this season on The Flash, viewers were introduced to Leonard Snart, a.k.a. Captain Cold, one of the few non-metahumans to get the better of Barry Allen. Using the stolen cold gun that Ciscon Ramon created, Leonard nearly killed The Flash, but decided to spare his life, content with his huge score. Leonard will return in 2015, working alongside Mick Rory, a.k.a. Heat Wave, and later on in the season, we’ll see that crime runs in the family when his sister Lisa Snart makes her debut.
Peyton List has been cast as Lisa for Episode 16, titled “Rogue Time.” According to Access Hollywood, Lisa is desperate to prove to Leonard that she has what it takes to join his criminal gang. In contrast with her brother’s calculating nature, Lisa is more impulsive, brash and even “a little sadistic.” Lisa’s willingness to use her sexual charm to get what she wants will lead to her crossing paths with Cisco.
In the pre-New 52 comics, Lisa was in a relationship with Flash rogue The Top, and after he died during a battle with The Flash, she swore revenge on the Scarlet Speedster. Taking the name Golden Glider, she used her ice-skating skills and jewel-themed weaponry to fight Barry Allen on multiple occasions. In the New 52, she gained the power of astral projection from the same genome recorder that gave Captain Cold, Heat Wave, Mirror Master and Weather Wizard their abilities. Here's what she looks like.
In the comics, Leonard has always been protective of Lisa, and I’m willing to bet that will be the case on the TV series as well. Though he may lead a life of villainy, he’d be hesitant to have her going down the same path; but judging from her description, it sounds like she’s not giving him much of a choice. It’s not clear whether Leonard will actually be appearing in this episode, although if he is, I suspect he’ll be the one fighting Flash head-on while Lisa is off causing trouble more discreetly, which Cisco will get caught up in it. Lisa is a big enough character that this probably won’t be her only appearance, and if the show takes its cue from the New 52, we may even see her with super powers at some point.
Peyton List’s previous work includes playing Roger Sterling’s ex-wife Jane on Mad Men and Cara Coburn in the short-lived CW series The Tomorrow People. She is the second Tomorrow People alum to join The Flash after Robbie Amell, who plays Firestorm. List also previously played Lois Lane’s sister Lucy in two episodes of Smallville.
The Flash will return to The CW from its hiatus on January 20 with the episode “Revenge of the Rogues,” which will see the inception of the villainous team.
