Fox To Move Fringe To Friday Nights In 2011

Fringe fans have cause to celebrate and cause to be concerned based on Fox’s latest announcement about the series.

The good news is, when Fringe returns in January, Christopher Lloyd is set to guest-star, playing one of Walter’s musical heroes. The not so good news is that when the Back to the Future star does make his guest-starring appearance in the mid-season premiere, the series will have officially moved to Friday nights. Fox announced today that Fringe will return from the winter hiatus on Friday, January 21st, kicking off a string of six new episodes.

As though the move to Friday nights weren’t a bad enough sign for the series (many consider Friday night to be the evening where series go to meet their demise), the Midseason premiere episode is titled “Firefly,” which has to be some kind of omen.

As for this week’s episode, which airs Thursday, Dec. 9 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), here’s what Fox has to say:

When the Fringe Team investigates a case where a victim had his heart extracted, it’s just the beginning of a series of mysterious and reanimating events tied together. Meanwhile, PETER (Joshua Jackson) comes to terms with the reality of his relationship with OLIVIA (Anna Torv).
