Fox Orders Four More Episodes Of Bones

It’s probably fair to file this under good news, especially given the shortened season Bones is getting this year. While the series is set up for a 13-episode seventh season, it looks like Fox is in the market for a bit more Bones. They’ve ordered more episodes, but it doesn’t seem to be clear as to when those episodes will air.

TV Line got the scoop on Bones’ additional episodes. Season 7 was shortened from 22 episodes to 13 due to series star Emily Deschanel’s pregnancy, however, now it appears Fox is hoping to squeeze a few more hours out of the show between Seasons 7 and (a hypothetical) 8. The network has given the order for four more episodes, which may air over the summer.

Due to the uncertainty of the whole situation, executive producer Stephen Nathan says they’re “constructing the season so that the finale is Episode 13.” So, the additional episodes, which will take place after Season 7, will most likely be stand-alone episodes that don’t conflict with whatever ongoing plot is playing out during the seventh season.

Either way, more Bones! As someone who doesn’t get to watch Bones regularly but does appreciate the dryly amusing banter between forensic anthropologist Brennan and FBI agent Seeley Booth, I actually prefer the standalone episodes, so this is most definitely good news.
