Fox And Team Farrelly Equals Funny

The duo that produced the classics There’s Something About Mary and Dumb and Dumber may be coming soon to a TV near you. The Fox network has just given a script order for a half hour sitcom to the Farrelly brothers and their creative team of writers.

Titled, ‘The Rules for Starting Over,’ the new Farrelly project features the life and times of a 35-year old guy getting back into the dating world after his marriage breaks up and realizing hey, dating has changed big time since his younger years. He is joined by fellow divorced buddies in the middle-aged meat market who are also trying to come to grips with the new rules of the game.

The quirky new project comes from the quintuplet team of the two Farrelly brothers Peter and Bob, writers Chris Pappas and Mike Bernier, along with producer Brad Johnson. Also on board to exec produce are Bradley Thomas and Kevin Barnett.

Says Bernier according to Variety.com, "A lot of our friends got married right out of college. We noticed as a couple of these marriages weren't working out, that these guys were heading back to the dating world in their 30s. And the rules of starting over in your 30s are very different." Hmmm…you never learn that vital truth in school.

However, the Farrelly brothers aren’t content with working on just one project. Currently they are busy developing the pilot ‘I’m With Stupid’ for NBC, which features the premise: homeless guy befriends young guy in wheelchair, hilarity ensues. ‘Stupid’ is based on the BBC comedy of the same name. And if that isn’t enough, Bob is set to produce National Lampoon’s Bag Boy for a 2008 theatrical release, while IMDB.com lists brother Peter as director of 2009’sThe Three Stooges
