Fox's Touch Preview Draws Strong Ratings

In what was likely an attempt to generate some buzz for Tim Kring’s new drama series, Fox previewed the first episode of Touch last night. And now we have to wait until March to see where the story goes from there. In the meantime, Fox can celebrate solid ratings for the preview episode this week.

Touch stars Kiefer Sutherland a singled father who learns his child, who is believed to be autistic, may be trying to communicate with him through numbers. You can read our review of th series premiere here. Whether it was the Idol lead-in or the hype built up by Fox leading up to last night’s preview episode, the preview did well in viewers. TV Line posted the numbers, stating that 11.9 million total viewers tuned in last night to check out Touch, putting it just behind this seasons most-watch drama premiere, Once Upon a Time, which debuted on ABC to an audience of 12.8 million.

Touch had helped last night, as it aired following American Idol. It also probably didn’t hurt that ABC’s Modern Family, which usually draws in big ratings, was a rerun.

Touch will make its official premiere on Fox on March 19th. Fox has the full pilot posted on their website. You can watch it here.
