It's always a constant battle for Fringe. And not just for the universe crossing characters on the show but for the show itself. Ever since the J.J. Abrams, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman series hit televisions, it has easily produced the most interesting science fiction storytelling on the small screen. Fringe is fast-paced, challenging and very demanding of its audience which is why, like so many similarly complex television series, it is all but certainly going to be cancelled after this season. Let's enjoy it while we have it shall we?
I don't mean to sound like a defeatist but, after the statements made by Fox head-honcho Kevin Reilly at the TCAs this week, the end is neigh. For now, lets put that unpleasantness behind us and rekindle hope that maybe, just maybe, an excellent series will be able to make a comeback and avoid almost certain death. It's also pretty obvious that the producers are aware of their perilous position because a lot of the marketing - dating back to the really impressive trailers from the summer - is trying to sum up past events and allow entry into the series for newcomers. Now that we're all caught up with the crime solving and universe crossing of our lead characters (and their 'fauxs' or doppelgangers), the show is ready to move forward by going "Back to Where You've Never Been." The first clip from Friday night's return, opens with an idyllic dream sequence where Peter, Olivia and Walter are acting like the perfect little family unit. Too bad all dreams come to an end but, at least in this case, sometimes they can also contain clues. Tips from your subconscious. And Peter might have given himself just that, take a look.
