Game Of Thrones Season 5: New Footage Reminds Us How Incredibly Badass Brienne Is
There are some minor Season 4 spoilers in the following story!
Game of Thrones is finally really gearing up for its 5th season. Today, the show has put together a couple of brand new clips, tying in the series with “The Sight,” a special ability that some are born with in the Game of Thrones universe. The first clip gives us a good view of Brienne of Tarth, looking even more badass than usual. Check it out, below.
If you are caught up on Game of Thrones up to the end of Season 4, you already know a lot about Lady Brienne of Tarth. The woman first protected Renly Baratheon, and subsequently stood by Catelyn Stark and Jaime Lannister. Most recently, she’s been given a mission to locate Sansa Stark and has been sent on the road with Pod to find her. As the Season 5 clip shows, the two are still on the road, but the normally plucky warrior seems a whole lot more hardened than she used to. She tells Pod she never wanted to be a leader, and we wonder how she’ll fare now that leadership has been thrust upon her. If “The Sight” clip is any indication, she’s a whole lot more jaded than she used to be.
Game of Thrones has already released a full Season 5 trailer, and the subscription cable channel has already put together other footage and content meant to tease the new episodes of the drama. Three months ago, the network unveiled a website dedicated to The Three-Eyed Raven and the concepts of visions and having “The Sight” on Game of Thrones. This Brienne video is more clear than the other videos Game of Thrones has released so far, but we still have until April before we know exactly why “the Sight” will be important in the upcoming season.
The compelling Brienne video wasn’t the only clip HBO has released this week related to “The Sight.” The network has also given us some footage of an upcoming conversation between Jon Snow and Mance Rayder about loyalties and keeping the Wildlings alive. Speaking of badass, Ciaran Hinds absolutely crushes it in the scene.
Even though we know a lot about the upcoming fifth season, the knowledge that has been released and/or leaked just makes us even more excited about the upcoming episodes. Luckily, there’s not too much longer to wait. Game of Thrones will return to the schedule on Sunday, April 12 at 9 p.m. ET.
