Gilmore Girls: One Of Rory's Main Romances Is Confirmed For The Revival
Netflix’s impending Gilmore Girls revival is still adding characters from the show’s heyday back to the mix for their Stars Hollow reunion. Now, one of Rory Gilmore’s three main loves has been confirmed to appear in the series. That love interest is none other than Logan:
Actor Matt Czuchry will be back for the four-part series as Rory’s last big love on the show, Logan Huntzberger. Czuchry was on Gilmore Girls for the final three seasons of the show, from 2004 through 2007. He got his first credit on Freaks and Geeks in 2000, and has since appeared on Young Americans, 7th Heaven, Veronica Mars, and Friday Night Lights. He’s now best known for his role as Cary Agos on The Good Wife, which he’s had since 2009.
Gilmore Girls was a family-based dramedy about thirty-something single mother Lorelai Gilmore and her teenage daughter Rory, who live in the quirky little (fictional) town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. Rory and Lorelai have mostly been cut off from Lorelai’s rich, conservative parents during Rory’s upbringing, but when the hard-working mom needs money to pay for her daughter’s education at an exclusive private school she goes to them for help. And, she only receives that help if she agrees to weekly Friday night dinners with Rory and her parents, which she does.
During Rory’s time at Yale, she meets rich boy Logan, who briefly takes her down a path of privilege with little responsibility and a general lack of accountability for bad behavior that rich kids often travel; a path that her mother was hoping to keep her from by abandoning the life of her own wealthy parents after having Rory. Logan also led Rory into trouble, which caused she and Lorelai to have a massive falling out, after having been best friends for all of Rory’s young life. Rory’s grandparents were delighted that she had started dating someone from old money who they finally deemed worthy of their granddaughter, so she moved in with them during this time and, then, later lived with Logan.
Fans of the show have often debated which major love of Rory’s teen and young adult life was best suited to her long-term happiness. Her first boyfriend was sweet, normal Dean. A guy who didn’t quite live up to Rory’s intelligence or ambition in life. She dumped him for Jess, a city-slicker trouble maker banished to the small town after causing a ruckus back home. Unfortunately, while he was a match for Rory in smarts and pop culture tastes, he was a bad boy who was disliked by the whole town, and he kept letting Rory down. Logan was a sort of troubled rich boy; he was carefree on the surface but inside was using that to deal with the immense pressure to succeed that was heaped on him by his parents.
So, do you think Logan’s return will mean that he and Rory will soon be back on the relationship track? Or, is he going to be left out in the cold again as Rory continues to pursue her journalism career? Feel free to let us know in the comments.
