I’m sure that with the new 90210 set to premiere this fall, many of us who grew up watching the original series have been thinking about the decade-long series. I was in the seventh grade when the series first premiered and I recall thinking that Brenda and Dylan’s relationship was like the most important thing ever. Then there was the Brenda/Dylan/Kelly love triangle, Donna getting trashed at the prom and nearly getting expelled (Donna Martin graduates!) and so many other memorable moments throughout the series.
90210 carried me through the ‘90’s. I even watched during the years when I wore nothing but loose-fitting flannel and corduroys and listened to angry rock. Beverly Hills, 90210 was the opposite of grunge but I didn’t care. By then the series had become something of a guilty pleasure and I watched all the way to the end. It ended the same year I graduated college and since then, reruns of the show remain a guilty pleasure – especially the early years. Seriously, the episode when Brenda, Donna, David and Kelly try to find Color Me Badd in that hotel – classic.
