Green Lantern Animated Series Footage Shows One Lantern's Really Bad Day
If you were at the New York Comic Con a few weeks back, you might have got a sneak peek at footage from Green Lantern: The Animated Series, the new CGI 'toon that's coming to Cartoon Network in November. If, like most of us, you were somewhere other than the New York Comic Con, here's your chance to check out some footage anyway. Warner Bros. has released a clip of the first scene from the show's premiere episode. You can check out the footage right here.
Fans of the comics will recognize the red-suited fellows as members of the Red Lantern Corps, which like the GLs only fueled by rage rather than willpower. It looks like the new Green Lantern series will be embracing the "Lantern spectrum" introduced into comic canon by writer Geoff Johns over the past few years. Aside from that, this seems like kind of an odd choice as a first look at the series. Die-hard fans might recognize some of the characters here, but you'd think it would have made more sense to lead with a more familiar Lantern, like Hal Jordan, John Stewart, or even Guy Gardner. I'm also not crazy about the CGI or the show's visual style, but what can you do (aside from not watch).
Green Lantern: The Animated Series is being shepherded by longtime DC animated stalwart Bruce Timm. Here's what the press release has to say:
You'll be able to see the one-hour series premiere of Green Lantern: The Animated Series on November 11th at 7/6 central on Cartoon Network.
